Sodium nitrate (technical sodium nitric acid) is a hygroscopic powdery compound of white, grayish or yellowish (technical brands) color with a sharply salty taste and odorless, containing 16% nitrogen in the nitrate form. It is a strong oxidizing agent.
Sodium nitrate is used in the glass, chemical, and metallurgical industries:
* The "A" grade is used for the preparation of fluxes for soldering and welding metals, for the production of reagents, pyrotechnic mixtures, optical glass, crystal, and in industries where the impurities of oxidized substances in terms of NaNO2 are strictly limited;
* The "B" brand is used for etching metals, fusing lump waste of tungsten, lightening technical glasses and for retail trade.
